Privacy
This is the personal site of Nils Glenn. I want you to know exactly what happens to your information here, so this page is written in plain English. The short version: I collect as little as I can, I use it only to send you what you asked for, and I never sell it.
What I collect
- Your email address, if you type it into a form. That includes signing up for The Strange Bible or asking to hear when the Angels guide or merch launches. I also note which form you used, so I know what you asked to hear about.
- Anonymous visit counts. I use Vercel Web Analytics to see things like which pages get read and roughly where visitors come from. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't follow you to other websites.
- Purchase details, if you buy a guide. Checkout is handled by a third-party store such as Gumroad. The store passes me your name, email and what you bought so I can deliver it and help if something goes wrong. I never see or store your card details.
What I use it for
- Sending The Strange Bible every Sunday, plus the free guide promised when you sign up.
- Emailing you when something you asked about (the Angels guide, merch) is ready.
- Delivering what you bought and answering your questions about it.
- Figuring out which parts of the site are actually useful.
I don't sell, rent or trade your information, and I don't run ads that track you.
Who helps run the site
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host it processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep the site secure.
- beehiiv stores the email list and sends the newsletter.
- YouTube plays the videos. The player loads from youtube-nocookie.com (YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode), but once you press play, Google's own privacy policy applies. Video thumbnails load from YouTube's image servers.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.
- Gumroad (or whichever store sells the guide) handles checkout and delivery.
Links to YouTube, Instagram, beehiiv and Gumroad take you to their sites, where their own policies apply.
Your browser's storage
The site remembers a few small things in your own browser so it doesn't nag you. For example, it remembers whether you've seen the intro animation, closed the announcement bar or already signed up. This stays on your device and is never sent to me. Clearing your browser data resets it.
Your choices
- Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're off the list.
- You can ask me what I have on you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Depending on where you live (the EU, UK or California, for example), the law gives you those rights anyway. I'll honor them wherever you are.
Kids
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, tell me and I'll remove them.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update it here and change the date at the top. If it's a big change, I'll mention it in the newsletter.
